Regina Gonthier elected new president of the International Union of Architects UIA
Great honour for Switzerland: On 08 July 2023, at their General Assembly in Copenhagen, delegates from all over the world elected Swiss architect Regina Gonthier as President of the International Union of Architects UIA, the worldwide organisation of architects.
This election crowns three decades of exemplary professional political commitment both within and outside the UIA.
In 1993, Regina Gonthier and other colleagues were founding members of the Swiss Conference of Architects CSA, which represents the interests of Swiss architects in the two international organisations CAE (Council of Architects of Europe) and UIA (International Union of Architects) on behalf of the professional associations FAS, FSAI and SIA. She has been involved in the UIA since 1994 and has been elected four times as a member of the World Council. With tireless commitment, she shaped the International Competitions Commission ICC, of which she was a member since 1999 and which she has chaired as Co-President since 2015. In the ICC, she brought her extensive knowledge of competitions and public procurement in general, as well as of the Swiss competition culture, which is particularly appreciated at the international level. She is also actively involved in the project to restructure the association.
Regina Gonthier is appreciated in the UIA and beyond as a trustworthy and extremely competent expert. Her election as President in the UIA's anniversary year reflects the great recognition she enjoys on the international stage.The International Union of Architects UIA was founded in Lausanne in 1948. Its headquarters are in Paris. Until now, the only Swiss president was Jean Tschumi, one of the founders, from 1953 to 1957. The presidents of the UIA are elected for a term of three years.

Reto Gmür in the ACE Executive Board
Reto Gmür is part of the ACE Executive Board 2024 - 2025
The second General Assembly of the Architect's Council of Europe ACE in 2023 took place in Brussels and online on 23 and 24 November.
On this occasion, Reto Gmür, BSA Basel, was elected to the ACE Executive Board. Gmür is a board member of the Conférence Suisse des Architectes CSA, the Swiss umbrella organisation for the international representation of architects' professional interests.
Ruth Schagemann (BAK Germany) was unanimously re-elected as President of the ACE for a further two-year term. Her second term of office begins on 1 January 2024.
The ACE Executive Board was partially renewed. It now comprises the following members: Daniel Fügenschuh (Austria), Dubravko Bačić (Croatia), Borys Czarakcziew (Poland), Carla Lima Vieira (Portugal), Carl Bäckstrand (Sweden), Anda Kursisa (Latvia), Diego Zoppi (Italy), Andre Pizzuto (Malta), Kornel Kobák (Slovakia).

New CSA Executive Board elected
Doris Wächli as the new president forms the new board together with Céline Guibat, Francesco Buzzi and Reto Gmür
At the General Assembly of the CSA on 06.06.2023, Doris Wälchli, Architecte EPFL FAS SIA, Lausanne was elected as the new President.
The following new board members were also elected

Francesco Buzzi, Arch. dipl. ETH FAS SIA OTIA, Locarno
Reto Gmür, Architect EPFL BSA SIA, Basel.In the coming weeks, the Executive Board will organise itself in accordance with the statutes and reassign tasks and roles.
